Ryan Josey (b. 1993 Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) is an emerging Canadian artist and writer. He studied Fine Art (BFA 2015) and Art History (BA 2015) at NSCAD University, and in studio with Canadian artist, Brendan Fernandes in New York City. He currently makes images, installations and text-based work through drawing, painting, photo, video, performance and collaboration. 

Ryan has exhibited widely in atlantic Canada, including projects with the Khyber Centre for the Arts; the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia; the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic; the Anna Leonowens Gallery; the Centre For Art Tapes and has exhibited internationally as part of the LILAC Art Series in New York, NY, USA. His work has been featured in C-Magazine in "Given Time: Notes on Dimensional Poetry" by Dr. Karin Cope and recently reviewed in Visual Arts News in "Tender Resistance..." by Julia McMillan. His projects, research and practice have been supported by local programmes, including the CFAT Media Art Scholarship; the Visual Arts Nova Scotia (VANS) Mentorship Programme; and Nocturne: Art at Night in 2014, 2016 & 2017.

In 2017, he participated in residencies with KREAM (Khyber Residency External Action Miracle) and the Arteles Creative Centre in Hämeenkyrö, Finland. Ryan is currently supported by an Arts Nova Scotia, Creation Grant completing new work and research in response to Michel Foucault's "The History of Sexuality."
